World 800 meters record holder, David Lekuta Rudisha, was flagged by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for allegedly failing to resign from the National Police Service (NPS) on time in order to join politics.
Rudisha's name was part of the 240 others that were forwarded to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), with the anti-graft body asking the polls' agency not to clear him.
In the letter addressed to IEBC on Wednesday, June 1, EACC stated it had disqualified the candidates over ethical concerns.

The 800 meters double Olympic champion is running for the Kilgoris parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.
“EACC considers these persons to have fallen short of the moral and ethical standards stipulated for election to public office. EACC hopes that IEBC will make appropriate decisions guided by constitutional values and public interest,” the letter read in part.
“The commission is verifying whether the aspirant resigned from public service as of 9th February 2022 in line with section 43(5) of the Elections Act, 2011," EACC in Rudisha's case.
Rudisha is vying for the seat alongside seven other candidates including former Internal Security Minister, Julius Sunkuli, former National Environment Management Authority (Nema) board chairperson, John Dalton Konchellah, and former Rift Valley Education Director, John Ololtua.
The 2014 Commonwealth silver medalist had been cleared by the electoral commission on May 2.
The 32-year-old retired athlete was forced out of the running track after sustaining a groin injury.
