Yego qualified for the World Championships through world ranking after his season best of 80.62m from the Kenyan trials held on June 25 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The javelin thrower will now head to Birmingham to represent Kenya where he will be partnering with Alexander Kiprotich.
The Kenyan has been struggling with fitness and injuries in the past few years and was hoping to reclaim the javelin title at the World Athletics Championships.
Yego required a throw of 83.50 for a direct ticket to the finals or finish among the 12 best throwers in the qualifiers.
The top three qualifiers were Anderson Peters (Grenada) with a throw of 89.91m, followed by Niraaj Chopra (India) who had a throw of 88.39m and Julian Weber (Germany) coming in at third with a throw of 87.28m.
