Kenya performed dismally in the 2022 World Athletics Championship in Oregon.
As of July 23, Kenya had only scooped six medals (1Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze) and are ranked seventh.
Kenya's Team Captain, Julius Yego after failing to advance to the javelin throw final, explained why the country’s performance was low.

Yego, who finished eighth in Group B of Javelin qualifiers, noted that the Visa delays led to the team travelling without a physiotherapist.
“I think it was bound to happen, remember when we came for these championships unfortunately with Visa issues we did not have any official physiotherapist cleared to come with us,” Yego stated.
On the preparations of the team for the championship, Yego noted that every athlete had prepared well however the visa issue affected the team.
“The preparations were good, the only problem we had was the visa issue which affected every team across the world.
3000m steeplechase runner Celliphine Chespol lamented that she sought the aid of a Norwegian athlete's physiotherapist prior to her match.
Chepsol finished 13th in the race.
"I thank God that I was able to finish the race because I had doubts about whether I would race. During my warm-up, I felt some pain in my knee. Unfortunately, there was no physiotherapist.
"I thank the coach who came to help me and sprayed my knee,” Chespol stated.
The issue of Visa delays has seen many people point fingers at the government. However, the athletes have openly defended the government.
In a statement issued by Africa's fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala urged Kenyans to avoid blame games.
“Let's stop pointing fingers. The government actually helped,” Omanyala’s tweet read.
