Former Chelsea FC team doctor, Ralph Rogers, has been assigned a special role in the country in its bid to reform sports and empower participants.

Through a statement dated Tuesday, July 26, Kenya Premier League (KPL) stated that it had reached an agreement with the former North London team physician.

In the country, Ralph will serve as an independent non-executive medical doctor on KPL's board.

Ralph has been assigned to adopt and implement the best sports medical regulations, written policies and procedures following Kenyan law to safeguard children and adults participating in competitive football activities.

Ralph rose to the public limelight during Carlo Ancelotti's era at Stamford Bridge. He played that role interacting with sta- studded first team squad that included Petr Cech, Frank Lampard, David Luiz, Michael Essien, Didier Drogba and John Terry, among others.

With Ralph's services, in 2009 Chelsea won the domestic double of the Premier League and FA Cup with Ancelotti at the helm as the tactician.

"I support Taiwo’s strategic plan for Kenya Premier League and making sure capacity building works hand in glove with implementing the best Medical regulations, written policies and procedures for Kenya Premier League and member clubs," Ralph explained while appreciating the role in Kenya.

Taiwo Atieno, KPL Commercial Director applauded the body's decision to hire Ralph, noting that he will help reform sports activities.

"Our ambition is to build Kenya Premier League into the best sports league in Africa both as an organisation and as a brand. We will achieve this goal by appointing the right people and hiring the best staff who can bring our strategic plan to life," Taiwo maintained.

Besides serving Chelsea FC, Ralph is the founder and Medical Director of Rogers Regenerative Medical Group, based in London.

Ralph received a Medical Degree from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium and a PhD in Exercise Physiology at the University of Maryland in the US.

His appointment comes even as the country continues to face FIFA Ban over government interference.

The Ministry of Sports disbanded Kenya's football governing body FKF, and appointed a caretaker team, which later became a transitional committee.
