Kenya Simbas head coach Paul Odera has created a core set of values that he hopes can help the team qualify for a first Rugby World Cup in 2023.

Last month, the tactician took the first step of his duty on the long road that could lead the Simbas to France for the global Showdown after he unveiled a very solid 102-man training squad to continue preparations for their opening RWC 2023 qualifiers in July this year.

The long squad will later be trimmed down to a group of 50 men and later the final 30 man squad that will be on duty for the national side in the world cup qualifiers based on merit and performance in training.

At the core of the team ,is former Chipu tactician work mission statement, which has been circulated within the players circle to “transform our country and rugby through leadership and our identity, inspiring pride and love for the citizens of Kenya.

Odera has also grown the national team squad with a set of core values that revolve around protection, respect, honesty, perseverance, leadership and warrior-ship he believes can sail the Simbas in their quest to reach the France 2023 Rugby World Cup.

The Simbas have not played a competitive test match ever since their victory at the Victoria Cup thrashing Zimbabwe back in September, 2019.

Odera is looking forward to making history with the 15 a side national team as they set their sights on making a debut at the Rugby World Cup in France through the drive of the teams core values set up by the team's boss.

The Simbas are scheduled to host Senegal and Zambia in Nairobi in July in their Pool B clash of the second round of African qualification for RWC 2023.
