The Giants of Africa on Monday 10, facilitated the ground breaking of a basketball court in Korogocho, Narobi.
The Hoops for Kids Korogocho founded by St. John’s Catholic Church will receive a new training facility to help them in conducting their training sessions in pursuit of chasing their dreams.
The Hoops for Kids Korogocho was formed 5 years ago and has since then achieved its core purpose of empowering young kids into working hard so as to attain a bright future not only through sports but in education as well.
The Giants of Africa foundation facilitated the creation of a basketball court on the basis of its mission which is to use basketball as a means of educating and enriching the lives of African youth.
The foundation aims to provide quality facilities, and training gears with the aim of growing the game of basketball within Africa.The foundation which is headed by Toronto Raptors Basketball Club President Masai Ujiri targets to create awareness and support for underprivileged children and young adults through the game of basketball, which place emphasis on hard work, accountability, honest living and positivity.
The Hoops for Kids Korogocho is headed by Head coach Brian Busaka and Paul Swagi who showed their gratitude towards the Giants of Africa foundation for coming through for the young kids and enabling them to acquire a basketball facility.
''We want to thank the Giants of Africa who showed their interest in enabling the growth of talents for our young team which is Hoops For Kids Korogocho through creating for us a training court that saw the ground breaking of the construction kicking off yesterday".Head Coach Brian Busaka told Team Kenya in an interview.
“We anticipate that the basketball court will be complete in two months time where we shall hold our opening ceremony. Giants of Africa has strived to create an opportunity for young basketball players in Korogocho motivating them to dream big not only in the growth of the game of basketball but also in shaping their future and that of the next generation''. Coach Brian said.
The facility will also aid the young upcoming basketballers in seeing the value of the game and appreciating what the game has to offer in their growth in terms of character ,social and other aspects of development in their lives.
