Faisal Aden was in a class of his own on Sunday evening, scoring a game-high 29 points to steer Equity Dumas to a 69-59 victory over Ulinzi Warriors in a Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Premier League match staged in Nairobi.

The Mogadishu-born guard scored twelve points from beyond the arch in a closely contested basketball clash to condemn the soldiers to their second defeat of the season.

Ulinzi started the game on a high, seizing an early lead only for Equity to cut back that advantage and complete a brilliant comeback victory.

Both sides were locked in a 46-46 stalemate with two minutes to go and it was Equity that found the telling final touch with Aden proving decisive when it mattered.

Equity tactician Carey Odhiambo praised his match-winner Aden, describing him as a 'basketball beast'.

“He is a great shooter. If you look at how he runs and walks around the court you would easily dismiss him but once he gets his hand on the ball, he is a beast.

“We know that defensively he is not as solid so as a team we try to cover up for that and offer space for him to flourish in attack,” he stated.

His Ulinzi Warriors counterpart Bernard Mufutu acknowledged that his charges lacked the efficiency to win the match.

“It was sad that we couldn’t find a solution for him and such players, if you give them room they kill you. We were not efficient in both halves of the court today and Equity deserved to win.” stated Mufutu.

The KBF Premier League returned this week after a three-week break caused by the Kenyan general elections.
