Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko issued an update on former Kenyan boxer Conjestina Achieng after visiting her on September 3.
Sonko checked on the Kenyan female boxer Conjestina Achieng at the Mombasa Women Empowerment Network Hospital in Miritini.
During his visit, the former governor handed Conjestina a pair of boxing gloves among other gifts.

“Conjee is still alive and doing well at the Mombasa women's rehab. She will be discharged next week,” his tweet read.
On her part, the legendary boxer assured everyone that she was getting on well with her treatment and cautioned people against peddling fake news about her death.
“I am okay, everything is okay. I am continuing with my treatment. For those that were saying I'm dead, I'm alive. People should control what they are saying. I was very heartbroken when people claimed that I had died because death is not something to joke about.
"I would really like if there can be more people to help me as the governor has done. I will really appreciate it. I wanted to defend my International Female Boxing Association title locally before I retire...I have already started my training,” Conjestina stated.
According to Amina Abdalla, the chair lady of Mombasa women empowerment, Conjestina had already started her first step of treatment to stabilize her.
She noted that the legendary Kenyan boxer is in the second step whereby she can participate in what she loves doing.
“We are entering onto the second step where we allow her to do what she likes, for example, boxing. We have allowed her to start training but slowly until step three when we can allow her to progress further,” Amina Abdalla noted.
She noted that in six months Conjestina will be out of the facility. On his part Mike Sonko was quick to note that visiting Conjestina was not a political stunt, adding that he always follows up on his projects.
“As you have seen Conjestina has made some improvements... she has received some boxing gloves and she also wants to get back to boxing. We will also encourage her to train other women to be like her. We will bring more boxing attires and set a gym for her so that she feels comfortable,” Sonko noted.
