Chelsea has sacked Thomas Tuchel as the team's head coach after a poor start of the season.
His fate was sealed by Chelsea's 1-0 loss to minnows, Dinamo Zagreb, in the Champions League.
Tuchel joined Chelsea under the error of former Club owner Roman Abramovich and won the Champions League trophy.
"On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the club.
"Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here," part of the statement read.
The 1-0 Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb, was Tuchel’s 100th game in charge and the decision to fire him came just 100 days into the new ownership of Chelsea.
According to Chelsea's statement, the decision was made at the “right time” amid the club's continued transition out of the Roman Abramovich era.
It was also noted that the club was moving quickly to appoint a replacement to Tuchel with the remaining coaching staff taking charge.
“As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.
“Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach.
“There will be no further comment until a new head coach appointment is made,” the statement read.
Chelsea is currently positioned sixth in the Premier League table (3 wins, 1 draw 2 losses). During the just concluded summer transfer window they broke the Premier League transfer spending record in one window.
Chelsea spent Ksh37.44 billion (£271.1 million) in the August 2022 transfer window acquiring 11 new players
Some of the big names signed under Tuchel include Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Wesley Fofana, Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella.
The Blues will be playing Fulham in their next Premier League match on Saturday, September 10, at the Craven Cottage.
