World and Olympic 1500m champion Faith Kipyegon trolled her competitors after winning her third Diamond League title at the Zurich Diamond League on Thursday, September 9.
Kipyegon finished the 1,500m race with a time of 4:00.44 to win her third Diamond League title on the final race of the season.
She stated that she expected a tough race and was astonished by how easy she cruised to victory.
“I was hoping that when I pushed, they would come with me and it would be a tough race. I enjoyed it anyway, but it was really funny because I honestly believed they were coming with me so it almost felt that I was running on my own towards the end,” Kipyegon noted.
Ireland’s Ciara Mageean came second with 4:01.68 as Ethiopian Freweyni Hailu finished third with a time of 4:01.73.

The 28-year-old athlete also added that the thought of it being the final race of the season enabled her to finish the race well.
“This was a really strong field, but I kept thinking it’s the last race of the season, and I took the opportunity to end it in a nice way... It has been a long season, and my legs are tired, but I think I still managed to run a good time, all things considered,” Kipyegon added.
The two-time World and Olympic champion concluded her season undefeated. During this season's Diamond League legs Kipyegon emerged victorious in the Prefontaine Classic, Herculis EBS and Weltklasse meetings.
Kipyegon bagged Ksh3.6 million ($30,000) and has also earned a wild-card entry to the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.
