Schools That Have Qualified for Girls 7S Rugby National Championship

A number of Secondary Schools from different regions of the country have booked a slot in the upcoming 2022 Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Girls 7s National Championship slated for Friday, October 7 in Nakuru.

Migori-based St Mary's Mabera Secondary School thrashed Aluor 36-0 in the Nyanza region finals to qualify for the national showpiece.

In the Central region qualifiers, Gatero booked their ticket after the suspension of Nanyuki Girls who were discovered to have fielded an ineligible player.

Gatero, who were hammered by Nanyuki 61-0 beat Kaaga Girls before benefiting from a walkover over Ontulili Mixed Secondary School.

Other schools that have been confirmed for the tournament include Eregi and Mazeras. The latter overcame Verlay McMillan 10-0 in  the Coastal region finals to qualify.

Eregi on the other hand confirmed their qualification after triumphing over Madira Girls High School.

The learning institution which is located near Maragoli Town beat Madira 20-5 in the Western region final staged at Kakamega Bull's Ring.

Speaking after the qualifiers, Shirely Anindo, KRU officer in charge of regional development thanked stakeholders for organizing a smooth qualification tournament.

“l would like to thank the union for the support that it gave us for the support towards girls rugby, not forgetting their teachers and coaches for the good work.

“I urge clubs to come in and pick up the girls for future player development,” read part of her statement.
