Kenya national women’s volleyball team ace Veronica Adhiambo has joined Turkish-based club Tarsus Belediyespor on a one year deal.

The 23-year-old was part of the Malkia Strikers squad that took part in the 2022 FIVB Women’s World Volleyball Championships that is ongoing in Poland and the Netherlands.

Despite Malkia Strikers being knocked out in the group stages, Adhiambo was one of Kenya’s best players of the tournament.

She accumulated the second highest points in the championship behind outside hitter Sharon Chepchumba who recently landed a deal with Aris Thessaloniki, a club that features in the Greek A2 League.

Adhiambo scored an outstanding 50 points from six matches, 16 less than what Chepchumba accumulated in the same number of games.

She was in a class of her own in Kenya’s 3 -1 (20-25, 25-27, 19-25) win over Cameroon, netting an impressive 12 points helping Malkia Strikers to pick their only win of the tournament.

In Malkia Strikers final group match, Veronica was also breathtaking, bagging 22 points in an encounter which the Kenyan queens lost 3-1 (15-25, 25-19, 18-25, 20-25).

Veronica also had an impressive campaign at the 2022 African Women's Volleyball Club Championships that was held in Tunisia five months ago, helping Kenya Pipeline to register a third-place finish.

As a result of her brilliant displays, she was named the championship's best left attacker.

Apart from previously having a spell with Kenya Pipeline, Adhiambo also featured for the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
