
Kwanthanze Secondary School, a learning institution located in Machakos County is without doubt Kenya’s Volleyball talent powerhouse.
The learning institution which was recently crowned the Federation of East African Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSSA) champions has produced a number of superb volleyball players.
From Malkia Strikers red hot right attacker Sharon Chepchumba to Emmaculate Nekesa, the list is endless.

TeamKenya.co.ke takes a look at the Malkia Strikers stars who schooled at Kwanthanze Secondary School.
Sharon Chepchumba
Sharon Chepchumba, one of the best female volleyballers in the country currently, is a product of Kwanthanze Secondary School.
The 24-year-old player started her post-primary education at former national football champions TarTar Girls High School before switching to Kwanthanze, where her volleyball career was nurtured under the tutelage of Justine Kigwari.
Chepchumba who is part of the Malkia Strikers squad that is taking part at the ongoing FIVB World Volleyball Championships in Netherlands has won various trophies at club and international level.
She was part of the Kenyan squad that trounced hosts Cameroon to bag the 2019 continental title. At club level, she plays for KCB.
Lorraine Chebet
Malkia Strikers middle blocker Lorraine Chebet is another player whose talents were sharpened at Kwanthanze Secondary School.
Chebet who has been a must inclusion in Paul Bitok's squad in recent years plays for Kenya Prison's Women's Volleyball team.
The ever-smiling player who traveled to the Netherland with the Malkia Strikers squad, also graced the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Emmaculate Nekesa
Apart from the Malkia Strikers duo of Sharon Chepchumba and Lorraine Chebet, Emmaculate Nekesa also schooled at Kwanthanze Secondary School.
The reliable setter is currently under contract with KCB Women’s Volleyball team - the 2022 African Club Volleyball champions.
Nekesa also graced the 2022 FIVB World Championship co-hosted by Poland and the Netherlands.
Gladys Ekaru
Kenya Pipeline dependable middle blocker Gladys Ekaru is also an alumna of Kwanthanze Secondary School.
Ekaru who dons the number 12 jersey is also part of the Kenyan squad that are competing at the 2022 World Championships.
Esther Mutinda
Fast-rising Malkia Strikers setter Esther Mutinda is also a product of Kwanthanze. Mutinda graduated from the multiple East African School games champions the same year with Gladys Ekaru.
Although she did not grace the 2022 World Championship, Mutinda is among the best setters in the country particularly after the retirement of veteran setter Jane Wacu in June 2022.
Pamela Masaisai
Malkia Strikers superb outside hitter Pamela Masaisai is also a product of Kwanthanze Secondary School.
At Malkia Strikers, she usually competes for a starting spot with experienced players like the team’s skipper Mercy Moim, and Noel Murambi.
Masaisai was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) during the 2019 Amaco Volleyball Tournament.
Although injuries have frustrated her in the past three years, the future is bright for the player who hails from Nandi County.
