Kenyan international Joseph Okumu spoke on the failed transfer move to Premier League side Leicester and Ligue 1 side Monaco.
The 25-year-old defender noted that back in 2015, he could not move to Leicester City in England or Monaco in France after his club, Belgian side KAA Gent set a high transfer fee.
Okumu had impressed scouts with his performance that season and was touted as one of the prospects in the market.
Gent set Okumu’s transfer fee at Ksh1.7 billion (€15m), making many interested clubs shy from the transfer.

“I am very afraid of ending up somewhere else, like in South Africa again. I still have a contract here, a salary.
“I want to impress again, knowing that I am at the level Monace and Leicester are playing. However, I am at Gent now. Despite being prolific, I don't want to look down upon others.
"That is one of the reasons why I am not disappointed. I am alive today, and I am focusing on the present. Tomorrow will make its own plan," Okumu told Gazet van Antwerpen.
The Kenyan added that four years ago, he was struggling to get his form, but currently, clubs are offering millions to get his services.
He also explained that he understood Gent's decision to keep him, adding that they are pushing for a championship spot.
Okumu noted that he also considered the fact of earning three times as much in another club but did not want to lose his playing time.
He hopes the club would agree on a transfer deal if a suitable offer is submitted.
