Kenya 7s launched their second week of the Solidarity Campaign in Stellenbosch South Africa after two wins in the first day in week two of the tournament on Saturday 15, May.
Shujaa hit the ground on their first fixture of the day against Zimbabwe where the Kenyans put up an outstanding shift for the 14 minutes of action that saw them bag in a 28 -12 win.
They later took on South Africa 2 in their second fixture of the day and managed to beat the hosts in what was a tight clash 12 -19.
The Kenyan side again faced the hosts South Africa in their final fixture of the day and were seeking to extend their winning streak into the third win in a row. Unfortunately, the Blitzboks were too good for the Kenyan counterparts who succumbed to a 38-7 loss at the Solidarity Cup.
Kenya will on Sunday, May 16, be looking forward to seal wins from their East African neighbours Uganda Cranes who lost all their matches against the hosts South Africa on day one and week two of the tournament.
Kenya 7s are currently focused on utilizing the camps organised by the World Rugby and Rugby Afrique to sharpen their skill set and game plays ahead of the Summer games in July.
Head Coach Innocent Simiyu is also impressed by the performance of his team at the Stellenbosch Solidarity Cup as they keep on improving. He remains confident that the team will gain confidence and be in proper shape by the time the Olympic games kick off in July.
