Ex-Man City Guru Lands Job at Chelsea

Chelsea has appointed Laurence Stewart as the club's new technical director as it restructures since Todd Boehly being taken over by Todd Boehly.

Stewart is currently a technical director at French Ligue 1 side As Monaco and will join Chelsea as soon as he completes his commitments in France.

The new technical director at Stamford bridge was once the head of performance analysis at Premier League Champions Manchester City.

He has also served at Everton as senior recruitment coordinator and also held a performance analyst role for the English national team for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Commenting on his new role, Stewart noted that he was attracted by the club's vision and direction under the new ownership group.

“I am excited to join them to help them build a world-class global sporting organisation to consistently win on the pitch at the highest levels and provide player pathways to help develop our talent,” Stewart noted.

Boehly who is Chelsea chairman admitted that Stewart will be holding an important role in the club where he will help build a deep sporting team.

The Chelsea boss also pointed out that the new appointee is a world-class football leader who understands talent management, data and scouting, player development and performance.

“Chelsea wishes to thank the owners of AS Monaco and their management team for supporting the recruitment of Laurence to Chelsea's project,” the club's statement read.
