With 14 days to go to the opening match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Cameroon have been caught in a kit saga.

The West African nation is currently embroiled in a legal tussle with French kit manufacturer Le Coq Sportif.

According to reports, Cameroon canceled their kits deal with Le Coq Sportif in July and contracted another brand, One All Sports to manufacture their jersey.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, Cameroonian sports journalist Njie Enow disclosed that the situation is complex.

“You have a kit supplier that wants to hang on to its contract. You have a new kit supplier, the Cameroonian market, cause I was there a few days ago, is flooded with jerseys that were made by Le Coq Sportif.

“Obviously, because the jerseys produced by One All Sports had not yet gone on sale. It is a very complex situation,” stated Njie.

This is not the first time that the Indomitable Lions have been caught up in a kits drama.

During the 2002 FIFA World Cup, the five-time African Champions had their sleeveless shirts banned by the world football governing body.

At the 2004 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), Cameroon were again fined by FIFA for wearing a 1 piece kit.

The Rigobert Song coached side are expected to open their 2022 World Cup campaign on Thursday, November 4 against Switzerland.

They will then battle it out with Serbia on Monday, 28 November before winding up their group matches against tournament favorites Brazil.
