
Kenya's national team, Harambee Stars, has been striving to make an appearance in the World Cup for over a decade.
However, despite the efforts from players, the technical bench and the fans, the country is yet to make an appearance at the quadrennial football event.
TeamKenya.co.ke looks at several instances where Harambee stars almost made it to the global football competition.

2006 World Cup qualifiers
Harambee Stars began the campaign on a front foot after defeating neighbours Tanzania 3-0 to advance to the next round following a barren draw in the first leg.
Kenya was grouped with Tunisia, Morocco, Guinea, Botswana and Malawi, finishing fourth in the group failing to proceed to the next round.
In its fixture against Tunisia, the national team played behind closed doors after organisers struggled with controlling a rowdy crowd in an earlier match against Morocco.
2010 World Cup qualifiers
Kenya was grouped with Guinea, Zimbabwe and Namibia, and it successfully qualified for the second round, achieving its highest-ever FIFA ranking (79).
Harambee Stars were up against Nigeria, Tunisia and Mozambique in the second round, winning only one match against Mozambique at Kasarani stadium.
Kenya was eliminated from the qualifiers finishing last in the group.

2014 World Cup Qualifiers
Harambee Stars began with a historic 7-0 aggregate against Seychelles, comfortably moving on to the second round.
In the next round, Kenya faced was grouped with Nigeria, Namibia and Malawi, with a 0-0 scoreline against Malawi at Kasarani Stadium ensuring their exit from the tournament.
2018 World Cup Qualifiers
The World Cup 2018 qualifiers Kenya advanced to the second round after defeating Mauritius.
In the second round, Kenya started off on the right note, with the team putting up a spirited fight to edge out Cape Verde with a 1-0 win at Nyayo Stadium.
However, Cape Verde defeated Kenya 2-0 in the second leg, ending the team's campaign.
2022 World Cup Qualifiers
Kenya exited in the first round after suffering a loss against Mali in their Group E match.
Kenya lost 1-0 at home to Mali to remain on 2 points from four games. Harambee Stars only registered one win against Rwanda.
Currently, Kenya, ranked position 101 in the world, is under a ban by FIFA due to interference by the government in football management.
This year's World Cup saw FIFA increase the number of participating teams from 32 to 48.
The tourney is set to kick off on November 20 and conclude on December 18 in Qatar.
