President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto relived her heydays when she played as a goalkeeper in high school. 

Charlene, while visiting the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Morocco, traded in her official wear for a pair of white shorts and sneakers as she lobbed the ball at the edge of the goal post which was ultimately caught by the keeper. 

In a statement on Thursday, November 10, she affirmed that sports offer a great platform for the youth to showcase their prowess. 

“I was a goalkeeper during high school matches and I believe sporting activities are great avenues for youth to showcase their agility and ability to maneuver through different hurdles that life presents. 

“I enjoyed a light moment at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé Morocco,’ Charlene stated in a tweet.

The first daughter of Kenya lauded the Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid together with his team for creating avenues for the youth in the country to enhance their sporting skills. 

She also noted the Moroccan government had ensured the protection of youth by implementing government policies for the development of sports. 

During the Moroccan tour, Charlene also addressed the MeDays Forum. 

Since President Ruto was sworn into office Charlene has been instrumental in shaping her father’s legacy through a series of meetings.  

Charlene who is a communication expert serves as the public relations officer and branding officer at Weston Hotel, Nairobi.
