Uruguay forward Luis Suarez refused to apologize for his infamous 2010 World Cup handball against Ghana.

Suarez was speaking on Thursday, November 1, ahead of the two nations' Group H clash at the FIFA World Cup, in Qatar.

The pre-match press conference saw Suarez answer a question paused at him claiming that he is viewed in a negative way by many in Ghana.

"I don't apologize about that, I took the handball, but the Ghanaian player missed the penalty.

"I'd apologize if I injured a player or took a red card for this, but I took a red card (for the handball). It wasn't my fault because I didn't miss the penalty," the former Liverpool and Barcelona man indicated.

In the 2010 World Cup quarter-finals between the two nations, Suarez handled a header from Ghana’s Dominic Adiyah with the spot kick being missed by Asamoah Gyan.

Suarez was sent off but what pissed off many Ghana supporters was when the forward celebrated Gyan's miss while he headed down the tunnel.

Uruguay went on to win on penalties and knocked out Ghana which was the remaining African side in the tournament.

The two teams will face off once again on Friday, November 1, with qualification for the knockout stage at stake.

Ghana's Black Stars will be hoping to disappoint Uruguay with either a win that will see the South American nation out of the tournament.

Thomas Partey also termed the 2010 incident as ‘unlucky’ adding that in the upcoming match the team will give their best following the coach's advice.

Ghana coach Otto Addo noted that to him the 2010 incident was not a big topic and the team was fully focused on qualifying for the next round.
