“The last few days have not been easy and I wish Oliver and his family the very best from the bottom of my heart,” part of Flick's statement read.
Bierhoff has worked in the leadership of German football since 2004 where has achieved a lot having seen Die Mannschaft, the national team, lift the 2014 World Cup.
The German is known for introducing the professionalization of the national team and its environment.
He is also responsible for the DFB Academy which is the central project for the Future of German football.
Flick noted that Bierhoff performed all his duties with great personal commitment and against a great deal of resistance.
He added that the country's national coaching team is having a hard time with the gap created by Bierhoff’s departure.
This, according to Flick, is due to the fact the former Chairman's focus was always and exclusively on the well-being of the national team, the DFB, and German football.
Flick also thanked Bierhoff for the long collaboration between the national team, and the DFB.
German was bundled out of the 2022 Qatar World Cup at the group stage for a second time running on Thursday, December 1.
