The FKF Premier League will continue as scheduled despite the recent annulment by the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) of the 2021/2022 season.

According to a letter dated Wednesday, December 7, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) CEO Barry Otieno, no official communication was given to the federation as of the close of business on Wednesday.

The SDT ruling stated that the FKF National Executive Council (NEC) had no legal standing to annul the leagues.

"The tribunal delivered its decisions orally in highlights but most of it was not read out to the parties. Though the matter has been the subject of various media reports.

"In the absence of the Tribunal's written decisions, the Federation remains guided by Article 3.1.2 of the FKF Rules and Regulations Governing Kenyan Football (2019)," Onyango noted in a statement.

According to Article 3.1.2 of the FKF Rules and Regulations 2009, clubs have to be notified of fixture and/or kick-off times changes, in writing at least 72 hours prior to the match.

"Therefore all matches/fixtures will proceed as earlier scheduled," Onyango concluded.

In its decision, the SDT overruled Ababu Namwamba's decision to restore FKF's National Executive Committee (NEC).

Upon reinstatement, the NEC nullified all leagues that were run by the FKF Caretaker Committee.

The decision by NEC meant that there would be no team relegated or promoted to the Kenya Premier League, National Super League, Division One, and the Women Premier League (WPL).

This decision was contested by the clubs affected which also resulted in the postponement of some league fixtures.
