African 100 metres record holder Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala on Monday, December 12, joined Kenyan content creators for a mock relay race during the Jamhuri Day celebrations held at Nyayo National Stadium.

The star athlete lined up alongside the likes of Timothy Kimani (Njugush), Jacky Vike (Awinja), Lawrence Macharia (Terence Creative),  and Kennedy Odhiambo (Crazy Kennar) in the 400 x 100m relay race.

Professor Hamo (Herman Kago), Francis Munyao (MC Tricky) and Mungai Eve were also in contention.

Although the race, as expected, was won by Omanyala’s team, the entire race was full of comical stunts.

From Awinja pacing while holding her trademark Thermos Flask in hand to Terrence Creative panting heavily while dressed in his famous caretaker attire.

After the conclusion of the race, the former Papa Shirandula actor could be seen moving using her knees as the fully packed Stadium erupted in laughter.

Then came, Njugush, who instead of following the track, decided to cross the middle of the field, leaving Kenyans in stitches.

Efforts by an official to catch up with Njugush were futile as the comedian sprinted past him to pass the baton to his counterpart.

President William Ruto and his deputy Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua could not hold their laughter as they cheered for the runners.

Jamhuri Day is one of the most important national holidays in Kenya.

It is celebrated each year to officially mark the day when the East African country became a republic in 1964.
