Patrick Aussems, AFC Leopards tactician, has disclosed that most of his charges were nervous to take spot kicks during the Jamhuri Day Cup finals held at the Nyayo National Stadium on Monday, December 12, 2022.
Ingwe drew 1-1 with Sofapaka after the end of regulation time but were beaten 4-3 on post-match shootouts.
Washington Munene had opened the scoring for the Leopards before Roddy Manga equalized for Batoto ba Mungu.
According to Patrick, most of his players were shy to step forward and take a penalty.

“When it is like that you ask players who want to shoot but unfortunately it is only three players who stated they wanted to. That means that I had to decide who else would take the other two to complete five.
“Ojo Olaniyi missed yes, but you know it is because of the brilliant work of the goalkeeper.
“This happens at the highest levels, like the World Cup where even big players miss penalties as well,” he was quoted by Citizen Digital.
Sofapaka and AFC Leopards were awarded Ksh500,000 and Ksh300,000 respectively for their performances during the 59th Jamhuri Day celebrations.
The match doubled up as a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) game.
In another FKFPL match played on Monday, a struggling Police FC side was held to a barren draw by Bandari.
One week ago, Kenya Police fired their manager Sammy Omollo and hired Francis Baraza, another ex-Harambee Stars player.
The above match was staged at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
