McKinstry, who has previously coached the Uganda national team, divulged that their camp has been hit by an odd flu but he expects to start the season strongly.

“This will be my first season in the Kenyan league and I expect very competitive matches. My players have been training well though some are out because of flu.

“We have young guys in the team and their contribution, blended with that of senior players will help us to fight for the title,” he was quoted by Nation.

According to Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the season will kick off on Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Gor Mahia are expected to open their campaign against Nzoia Sugar at the Nyayo National Stadium before entertaining Bidco United in their second match.

Tusker, who lifted the title in the 2021/2022 season which was recently declared null and void, will face Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium.

In other matches that will be played this weekend, Ulinzi Stars will face a rejuvenated AFC Leopards side while KCB will battle it out with Kenya Police. Both matches will be played at Kasarani Annex.
