Irish international Orla Cronin is committed to raising €10,000 (approximately Ksh 1,304,782) to help the less fortunate after a life-changing visit to Kenya.
According to the Camogie player, the families in arid and semi-arid parts of Kenya, including Baringo and Londiani, require urgent help.
“We saw a labour ward of three beds tightly squeezed together, three or four incubators scattered in rooms.

"The reality is a lot of women have their babies at home. What was startling was that it may be something as simple as not having access to a basic drug that could prevent pregnancy/labour complications that may be the difference between life or death,” she was quoted by The Southern Star.
Cronin further divulged that despite their broad smiles, children in these localities are struggling.
“There must have been over 2,000 kids welcoming us, so much energy with songs and dance. They were obsessed with my long, wavey hair!
“They have very little and are struggling in many ways, but they are the happiest and brightest you could meet. It still felt uneasy at times though, as you know, these children need more,” added Cronin.
In the eight-day visit, Cronin traversed Kenya's Western and Rift Valley regions, where she came across individuals with diverse cultures.
Cronin also disclosed that some of her experiences during the tour made her stop in her tracks.
She described how children in wheelchairs begged on the streets of Nairobi's capital and how some had flown on their innocent faces.
The star player urged people to change their lives to help fight climate change.
“The trip has had a profound effect on me. I have always been concerned about the planet, but the trip and seeing places like Baringo suffering devastating drought has emphasised my need to act now.
“We have to make those changes, be it through the food we eat, the clothes we buy, or the transport systems we take,” ended Cronin.
