
Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC) announced the building of a world-class multiplex sports arena in its Airport District in Kakamega County.
According to one of MMTC's representatives, Bruce Wanjala, the multiple arena construction will take close to 18 months to complete.
Wanjala added that MMTC had teamed up with US, Indian and Turkish partners on the multiplex arena project.

"We expect the construction to complete in November 2024," Wanjala stated.
In a statement released by MMTC on January 12, 2023, it was highlighted that the sports arena will host almost all sporting activities.
“The arena will also host all sports including soccer, rugby, basketball, tennis, hockey, volleyball, American football, and swimming,” MMTC stated in a statement.
It was also noted that activities like concerts, forums, virtual reality, and other additional revenue generators will be hosted at the arena.
Present at the arena will be a talent innovation school where youths will be trained, nurtured, and educated to enable them to compete internationally.
The multiplex arena will be an addition to a 36-hole Hamptons golf course in the Golf District of MMTC.
The Airport District at MMTC is one of the five districts in Mwale City. The others include Plaza, Golf, Grid, and Industrial.
MMTC is a Ksh247.9 billion ($2 billion) community-owned sustainable city located in Butere, Kakamega County.
