
Principal Secretary, State Department for Internal Security Dr. Raymond Omollo announced the construction of an ultra-modern stadium in Embu County.
Through a statement released on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, Omollo disclosed that the government will construct a new ultra-modern stadium in a record five months.
The PS was in Embu County together with other Principal Secretaries from different ministries, as part of the National Celebrations Steering Committee for an inspection tour of Njukiri Grounds.

“The government will complete the construction of a new ultra-modern stadium in Embu County in a record five months in readiness for this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations.
“The Njukiri ground that has been hosting the annual ASK agricultural shows will be remodeled into a 20,000-seat arena at an accelerated schedule,” part of the statement read.
According to the Interior PS, the new facility will have a world-class stadium that will be ready by June 1, 2023.
“We are constructing a stadium from scratch in four and half months. The stadium will be a big milestone for Embu county in readiness for the celebrations and host to other future events,” the PS noted.
Omollo also disclosed that the project will be co-funded by the two levels of government adding that a technical team is already working on the cost implications of the construction works.
Njukiri Showground has been in the hands of the Agriculture Society of Kenya and the PS noted that the government would consult with the society to avoid any obstacles during the execution of the project.
