“Today, we announce that the Cleo Malalah Super Cup will be played in the entire Western region.
“All five counties including Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Busia will feature. It will be played in 38 constituencies and all our wards,” revealed Malalah.
Malalah, who unsuccessfully vied for the Kakamega County gubernatorial seat in the 2022 general elections, also added that Ksh6,000,000 would be up for grabs.
“Because we want to lead by example in Kenya, this tournament will be the first in East and Central Africa to award the winner Ksh3,000,000 in prize money.
“The runner-up will receive Ksh1,500,000 while the third and fourth-placed teams will pocket Ksh1,000,000 and Ksh500,000 respectively,” he explained.
The Friends School Kamusinga High School alumni further added that they will give each of the 38 constituencies in the region football equipment.
“We are also going to give all 38 constituencies football jerseys and balls. We are aware that the Mulembe nation is the home of football talents.
“Rift Valley is known for producing brilliant runners, and their leaders are nurturing athletic talents.
“So, it is our responsibility as the leaders from the Western region to promote football talents and we are going to do just that,” he ended.
The Cleo Malalah Super Cup, which was first played in 2018, did not take place last year due to limited time caused by the general elections.
