Shujaa Registers First Win in Sydney 7s

Shujaa made a comeback against Uraguay at the Sydney Sevens rugby tournament to win 24-19.

This was Shujaa's first win in Sydney having registered back-to-back losses in their Pool B matches against New Zealand and South Africa.

The Kenya Sevens team bounced back from a 0-14 score with skipper Nelson Oyoo starting the move.

Oyoo scored before the halftime whistle to put the scores at 5-14 into the break.

Minutes after the restart tries from Alvin Otieno and Nelson Oyoo and a conversion by Tony Omondi put the scores at 17-14 in favour of Kenya.

Omondi went on to make a try and a conversion to make it 24-14 score before Uraguay’s Ardao scored a late try to make it 24-19.

Kenya finished Pool B as number three with five points dropping from the Cup Quarters.

Shujaa will play in the ninth place play-off against Spain on Sunday, January 29, at 2:16 am.

Kenya and Spain are tied in points at 16 with Shujaa at 13 and the latter at 12 in the Series standing.

Shujaa registered its highest point of the season at the Hamilton Sevens Series.
