Former Shujaa player Dennis Ombachi stated that Willy Ambaka’s retirement from rugby is a sad one.
The famous TikToker, who recently won an international award thanks to his social media influence, played together with Ambaka in the national team.
He praised the one-time Western Province star for his contribution to the game in the country.

According to Ombachi, who ditched rugby for the chef profession due to health concerns, his ex-teammate made a significant improvement to rugby in the country.
“Ambaka is my personal friend. He is a definition of hard work and determination. He has made his mark in Kenyan rugby and has made other player better.
“It is sad to see him exit the scene but he leaves with his head up because he has always given his best to the sports in this country,” he told Citizen Digital.
In his decade-long professional career, Ambaka played in numerous international competitions including Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Rugby World Cup, and the HSBC World Rugby 7s series.
He was also part of the star-studded squad that brought home the coveted HSBC World Rugby 7s title in 2018 after their triumph in the Singapore leg.
In addition, Ombachi described Collins Injera, who has also hung his boots, as one of the greatest to ever play the game.
“Injera is a superstar in world rugby, he put Kenya on the map and the record he has set is amazing, very few people can match that record.
"He is a role model to many, personally he has mentored me since my high school days alongside his brother Humphrey Khayange, he will be missed by many,” he ended.
