Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has disclosed that Harambee Stars will play a friendly match with neighbours Tiafa Stars from Tanzania.

After visiting President Samia Suluhu at State House Dodoma on Friday, February 3, Kuria revealed that Suluhu agreed to the proposal.

Kuria highlighted that the match will mark an agreement between Kenya and Tanzania.

“This morning, I received a warm welcome from Tanzanian President, Samia Suluhu in State House Dodoma. I delivered a special message from her brother, President William Ruto.

“To mark a new page in our relations, I extended an invitation to Taifa Stars to a friendly match against Harambee Stars in Nairobi, which President Suluhu accepted,” Moses Kuria’s statement read.

However, the fixture's date and venue were yet to be confirmed.

The last time Harambee faced Taifa Stars, the Kenyan side emerged victorious with a 2-1 win at the NyayoStadium.

It was supposed to be two-legged friendly. However, the second fixture, which was to take place at the Kasarani Stadium, was cancelled.

The match's cancellation resulted from the death of former Tanzania President Pombe Magufuli.

Recently a report from CAF indicated that Tanzania was the only East African Nation with a stadium approved to hold any FIFA-affiliated tournaments, the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium.
