Double Olympic 1500m champion Faith Kipyegon admitted that she had her reservations about participating in the Sirikwa Classic World Cross Country Tour.
Kipyegon won the senior women’s 10km race at the Sirikwa Classic World Cross Country Tour on Saturday, February 4, at Lobo village in Eldoret.
The two-time World 1500m champion finished ahead of Jackline Chepkoech and Zena Jemutai who finished second and third respectively.

“When I was running, I was really enjoying myself as I had said I wanted to do yesterday (February 3).
“I enjoyed myself. Being my first race of the season, it was quite good and I thank the people who told me to do this (run at Sirikwa Classic)… My manager and my coach. I was a little bit afraid but I thank God it went well,” Kipyegon stated.
She added that she was not expecting a win the race highlighting that the conditions were tough.
In the other race, Charles Lokir was the winner of the senior men’s 10km race at the Sirikwa Classic World Cross Country Tour.
Samuel Kibathi was the winner of the men's 8km Under-20 race followed by Kelvin Kiprop
and Gideon Kipngetich at second and third respectively.
Elsewhere Lucy Nduta won top honours in the women's 6km Under-20 race with Mauriner Jepkoech and Deborah Jemutai winning silver and bronze.
The Under 18 five Kilometre races were won by Amos Kiprotich and Vyonne Chepchirchir in the men's and women's races respectively.
