
Students from the American-based Grauer School organized a 12-hour dance marathon to fundraiser for Daraja Academy domiciled in Central Kenya.
Daraja Academy is a Nanyuki-based learning institution that is specifically for girls.
The American students formed a club called the Girl Raising Club in 2013 to help girls from poor backgrounds study without challenges.

The partnership between the two learning institutions and Daraja Academy began in 2016.
In 2018, students from Grauer school visited Kenya to interact with the girls in Nanyuki.
Also, Everlyne, one of the learners from Daraja Academy, had the opportunity of a lifetime to travel to the United States for the first time in her life.
She spent two days in the institution which is based in Encinitas, California.
According to The Coast News, $1,300 (approximately Ksh162,000 ) was raised during the dance marathon.
“The winners of the Dance Marathon went home with a prize, as well as the pride earned from staying up and dancing all night.
“More than $1,300 was raised from ticket sales and sponsorships at the event,” read part of the statement.
The Girl Raising Club's mission is to make it possible for young girls around the globe to have an access to education.
It also seeks to explore and discuss the challenges that they face in the United States and around the world.
