The book ‘100 Years of Rugby in Kenya’, authored by former Kenya Rugby Union Secretary General Zack Oloo, was launched on Thursday, February 9.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi attended the event as the chief guest at Nairobi Club.
“I thank Zack, who once served as the Secretary General of the Kenya Rugby Union, for bringing rugby enthusiasts together through his works, for Rugby is more than just a sport but a way of life.
“I urge all other Sports personalities, current and legends to emulate Zack’s gesture, and as Government, we are now empowering the youth to consider sports as a career and a source of livelihood,” part of Mudavadi’s comment read.

Also in attendance were other rugby legends, including Max Muniafu and Jackson "Jacko" Omaido, to name but a few, with Mudavadi highlighting the importance of focusing on documenting the history of rugby for history tracing and future reference.
He also added that the move by Oloo will help promote the sport.
“I am sure this now opens the window for somebody to do something similar in hockey, there could be somebody who could focus on soccer and netball and this now has opened the floodgates and an opportunity for people to say something about sports in this country, even in the area where we are strong as a country in athletics. There is a big opportunity here.” Mudavadi added.
Mudavadi also disclosed that he was applauded as one of the best flankers from Nairobi School “Patch Machine” during the ceremony.
He added that rugby contributed much to his political journey over the years.
“Rugby has taught me to tackle low when you have to tackle low. It has taught me to head-butt when you have to head-butt, and it has taught me to run and side-step when you have to do so.
“Rugby skills teach you something that when you enter politics you cannot survive if you cannot tackle low, head-butt, run and sidestep. All these things come together in politics, in life and in business there has to be a moment when you have to reflect on all those attributes.” Mudavadi added.
