Kenya to Receive Ksh 1B From FIFA

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) will receive Ksh1 billion (USD8 million) from FIFA Foward 3.0.

According to FIFA Annual Report 2022, the funds will help in football development projects and provide operational support.

Kenya is not the only country set to benefit from this as all FIFA-affiliated federations will receive a similar amount.

“FIFA’s unprecedented investment in football is the result of our solid financial transparency and stands as a concrete example of how we are aiming to make football truly global.

“The resounding success of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar has been key to the organisation’s ability to fulfill its mission in relation to our member associations and the world of football despite the multiple challenges we faced during the past cycle, not least the Covid-19 pandemic,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated. 

The report also confirmed the FIFA Council's decision to expand the FIFA Club World Cup from 24 to 32 teams, announcing the first such edition to take place in June-July 2025.

Four teams will come from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) and Confederation of African Football.

Six teams will come from the CONMEBOL with the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) producing one team.

UEFA will produce the majority with 12 teams and a single slot given to the host nation.

Saudi Arabian Football Federation was unanimously appointed by the FIFA Council as hosts of the  FIFA Club World Cup 2023 from December 12 to 23, 2023.
