“There shall be a qualifying round for category B athletes. Selection to the next round shall be based on time and not Position,” part of the statement read.

It was also highlighted that in category A, priority will be given to those who participated in the recent AKtrack and field meeting in Kisumu and Mumias.

Athletes were also advised to access information on their category in the call room at Nyayo Stadium.

In its previous announcement, AK announced it had entered the meet to the World Athletics Competition Ranking.

AK also made it mandatory for all senior athletes who seeked to participate must register for the event before the competition.

The event also doubles up as trials to select the Under-18/Under-20 teams representing Kenya at the U-18 and U-20 East African Athletics Regional Championships in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The 2nd AK Track and Field Weekend Meet was scheduled at the Nyayo Stadium from February 24 to 25.
