The Kenya Rugby Union(KRU) has opened a temporary transfer window ahead of a proposed resumption of the top tier Kenya Cup league in mid June.

The window opened on 26 May and runs until 4 June with the league tentatively set to resume on June 12.

A communique from the KRU's acting CEO Thomas Odundo reads,  ” As we resume play for the suspended Kenya Cup League, the league and fixtures committee have declared a temporary transfer window period. “

“This period shall run from May 26 2021 to June 4 2021. Players or clubs seeking a temporary (loan) transfer to/from other clubs may utilize this window to effect the said transfers.”

“The regulations affecting loan players (regulation 14.8 and others) will be in effect and clubs are asked to adhere to the same.”

Rugby competition was affected by the Presidential directive on 26 March suspending sports and public gatherings as the Covid-19 pandemic bit the country. However, a directive on 1 May allowed for the resumption of sports under strict guidelines from the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Health.
