Carl ‘Flash’ Tundo he led from start to finish to win the Rally Tanzania in the weekend on his first attempt.
Navigated by Timothy Jessop in the VW polo R5, Tundo beat compatriot Karan Patel (Ford Fiesta R5) and Ugandan Yasin Nasser to win.
“It is fantastic to win outside Kenya, I have never done this before,” Tundo said after the race.
Tundo and Jessop are now leading the ARC championship charts with 60 points.
“We are happy and contented with our position. We were looking for the first but Tundo drove very well, he was the best man.
South Africa’s Guy Botterill and Simon Vacy Lyle encountered mechanical mishaps in stage five dropping them out of the podium places.
Rising star Jeremy Wahome sealed the top five positions.
The next ARC meeting heads to Zambia on 24-26 September.
