
Kenyan forward Micheal Olunga’s deflected shot found the back of the net as Al Duhail beat Iraqi side Al Shorta 2-0 in an Asian Champions League match played on Thursday night in Jeddah.
Hussam Kadhim deflected Olunga’s shot into his own net in the 36th minute to give Sabri Lamouchi’s side the lead before Brazilian Edmilson Junior doubled Duhail’s lead in the 53rd minute.
The seven-times Qatar league champions dominated the Group C match, although Al Shorta had their chances too.
Elsewhere, three-time champions Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia were held to a 2-2 draw in Group A by Uzbek debutants AGMK.
In Georgia, Kenyan international Alywn Tera started for Saburtalo Tiblisi in the 3-2 win over Samtredia on Thursday.
A hat-trick from Dmitri Mandrichenko was enough for Saburtalo to return back to winning ways following their draw against Dila Gori last time out.
