Gor Mahia FC striker Benson Omala will leave the country in three weeks-time to join Swedish Division One side Linkoping FC.

The club’s CEO Lordvick Aduda says Omala, who just completed his High School education at Kisumu Day High School is waiting for his visa and work permit which is already being processed.

“Omala is on loan to Linkoping FC upto 31st December 2021. He is waiting for his visa and work permit and will leave immediately he is issued with the documents in the next three weeks,” he said.

The talented Omala broke through the ranks during the 2019/20 season while playing for Western Stima FC, and his major stepping stone was him winning the January 2020 SJAK player of the month.

“He is a talented kid who is passionate about playing football and this presents a great opportunity for him to show the world what he is made of and develop the basics of the game that will make him a complete product for the future.

“His travel details are with the Swedish embassy and in the next three week he will be cleared to travel if all goes well,” said Aduda

Aduda hopes the 18-year old will use his time well in Sweden which has been a good stepping stone to many players who are plying their trade in major leagues in Europe.

“Omala has the advantage of age and remember he is a raw gem at the moment.” he told TeamKenya.

With his career at K’Ogalo not picking up well, Aduda has dispelled claims that the youngster did not fit into the club’s system.”He is a victim of the formation play as a lone striker. You really need extremely versatile midfielders or offensive wingers.”

“The lad needed to grow especially with the pressure in Gor, he was supposed to be assisted by a more mature/ seasoned second striker or introduced gradually but not thrown into the deep end alone. That is the reason I proposed a loan period particularly for his development.”

“I had to explain to the chairman why it is important. He can bring money at the end of the loan period or will definitely come back a more polished player,” he added.

Gor have made a bad start to their title defence bid and currently sit seventh on the FKF Premier League with 22 points after 14 matches.
