Chelsea fans clapped in the 21st minute of their clash against RB Salzburg on Wednesday, September 15 to thank their former manager Thomas Tuchel for guiding them to the 2021 UEFA Champions League triumph.

The Blues fans all stood and applauded Tuchel who was sacked recently by the new management due to a number of poor performances.

The German tactician replaced Chelsea legend Frank Lampard in January 2021 and  helped the West London side lift  the coveted trophy.

His Chelsea charges narrowly beat their Premier League rivals Manchester City 1-0 in the closely contested final which was held in Portugal on May 29, to win the prestigious title, with Kai Havertz scoring the lone goal.

Despite the show of appreciation, new manager Graham Potter will have to wait for his first win because Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge by Salzburg.

Raheem Sterling netted his maiden Champions league goal for the North London-based side seven minutes into the second half.

However, his goal was not enough to help Chelsea grab the maximum points since Noah Okafor equalized for the Austrian side in the 75th minute.

Speaking after the match, Potter praised his charges for displaying a fantastic performance and acknowledged the responsibility ahead.

“Yeah, it's a fantastic challenge. I understand the responsibility. It is great to be here, nice to have a game and learn about the players.

"But, like I said, I can’t speak highly enough of the boys. They have been very honest and professional. I am going to enjoy working with them,” stated Potter.
