Kenya's Selly Kaptich exuded confidence ahead of the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon on Sunday, October 30.
The 36-year-old marathon runner hopes to smash fellow compatriots Valary Aiyabei, the course record of 2:19:10, a milestone the race organisers were unaware she was seeking to break.
They thus assured her that they would make significant adjustments to the race.

"We had not heard about these plans from her management. However, if she really wants to go that fast, we will rearrange peacemaking to support her,” Christoph Kopp stated.
The Frankfurt marathon returns after a two-year break since 2019, when Valary Aibabei established a course record.
Kaptich leads the women's field, made up of eight athletes, with a personal best of sub 2:55. She also set a halfway split time of 69:00, which resulted in Christoph Kopp, Frankfurt’s Elite Race Coordinator, making a few adjustments to the race.
“I am confident that I can run a sub 2:20 personal best and I want to attack the course record – that is what I am here for,” Selly Kaptich stated.
She will join fellow Kenyan and 2015 World Championship silver medalist Helah Kiprop who has a PB of 2:21:27. Kiprop's last appearance in Frankfurt was in 2014, where she finished fifth.
Ethiopian Yoshi Chekole is the third fastest woman in the field with a PB of sub 2:22. Chekole has been having her training for the Marathon for the last four months.
According to the organisers, Kenya's Gladys Chepkuria might surprise many who run 2:28:55 in France. Chepkurui hopes to run a time of around 2:22.
