Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has pledged to petition the Cabinet to grant athletes special travel documents.
The CS spoke during the launch of two air quality monitor sensors at Lobbo Village and Eliud Kipchoge training complex on November 1.
Ababu also touched on doping, noting that he would table proposals to amend the law to criminalise the vice.

“I am going to present an official request to the cabinet for granting special diplomatic passports to our elite sports people to be approved at the highest level,” Ababu Stated.
The Sports CS noted that only the President of Kenya and the athletes ensure the national anthem is played abroad.
Ababu cautioned those who are involved in doping as they are tainting Kenya’s image, which has taken time and sacrifices to build.
He also challenged other federations to emulate Athletics Kenya (AK) in ensuring the environment is better.
“This is part of the journey to COP27 Climate Change Conference 2022 which shall be held in Egypt on November 7-18 and the federation has shown a good example by leading the others in making sure the air is clean in any competition,” Ababu added.
AK was the first federation to sign the climate action out of the 214 member federations in the world.
On his part urged the national government to complete the Kipchoge Keino Stadium and 64 Stadium in Eldoret so that athletes can have good facilities to train on.
Speaking at the same event was Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii who requested the CS to facilitate the completion of the stalled Kipchoge Keino Stadium and 64 Stadium in Eldoret.
