“I am happy to announce in April 2023, I will compete in the Boston Marathon, a new chapter in my Abbott World Marathon Majors journey. Good luck to all the runners running Boston in 2023,” Kipchoge stated.
Both Kipchoge and Gebreslase will be making their debuts at the Boston Marathon.
The race will feature 30,000 participants, including a World Record holder, World Champion and Six Boston Marathon winners.
Evans Chebet will also be targeting to defend his title in a race with five other Boston Marathon winners.
“To be a champion in Boston is something very special, and for me, it has even more meaning because it took me quite some time during my career to be competitive enough to win the oldest marathon in the world finally.
“I can’t wait to be back and to enjoy the great atmosphere of such a unique and historical race,” Chebet stated.
The other five include two male and three female athletes; 2021 winner Benson Kipruto, 2013 and 2015 winner Lelisa Desisa, Edna Kiplagat (2017), Atsede Baysa (2016) and Desiree Linden (2018).
