
Sports CS Ababu Namwamba launched a two-day Anti-Doping retreat at the Kasarani on Tuesday, December 13.
Speaking on day one of the retreat, Namwamba noted that the government considers doping menace a matter of National Security.
Namwamba pointed out that the country would have lost its reputation in athletics if the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) effected the ban.

"We must all be grateful to WADA for listening to our plan in the fight against doping. If they had gone ahead to ban us, we would have lost much more than just our athletics reputation. Our diplomatic standing was well on the line," Ababu explained.
The CS called for joint efforts, from all the stakeholders in athletics, in the fight against doping.
"We must all work together and adopt a multi-agency approach if we are to rid ourselves of this menace," he added.
Namwamba noted that President William Ruto was in full support of the war against doping, adding that government would offer support to all the agencies involved in a bid to win the doping war.
He also lauded Athletics Kenya for its cooperation and support in ensuring that Kenya escaped the WADA sanction.
Namwamba added that the government was ready to deploy all resources to protect it from being soiled by unethical people.
Present at the retreat was Sports Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke who challenged the multi-agency team to produce practical solutions from the retreat, that would assist the country get struck off the Category A doping list.
Kenya is currently listed among seven countries in the Category A doping list over serious doping violations.
