Leader of Delegation, Apollo Ahimbisibwe highlighted the importance of the Tunisia trip ahead of the CHAN tournament.
“Like it has always been a norm at FUFA that prior to any major tournament, we take National Teams to a foreign camp and try to create a situation that would give players a competitive mind.
"I believe the camp in Sousse has been fruitful, the coaches have been able to mold the team and also the players have developed the bond necessary to take them into CHAN,” Apollo stated.
He also noted that the team has also acclimatized to things like weather and food as Tunisia and Algeria are neighbours.
“We believe this was a perfect choice of venue to camp. The friendly games have shown improvement and chemistry of the team and we are hopeful of doing better than the previous editions,” Apollo added.
Apollo also praised the Government of Uganda for availing funds to facilitate the team's preparations.
He called upon all Ugandans across the World to rally behind the team as the tournament starts.
Cranes departed Tunisia for Algeria on Wednesday morning, January 11, where the team will be based at Ben Mustapha Aouda Hotel.
Uganda is in Group B alongside with DR Congo, Senegal, and Ivory Coast with the first game against the Congolese on Saturday, January 14, 2023.
