Injera Inducted in Rugby Town Walk of Fame

Collins Injera was on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, inducted into the Rugby Town Walk of fame for his remarkable achievements.

The Shujaa great was inducted alongside Fijian legend Noa Nadruku.

The milestones that the Daystar University alumni reached were engraved on a plaque.

 “Collins Injera represented Kenya in 7s and 15s. He currently holds second place for the number of tries scored in the world rugby sevens series with 279 tries.

“Injera debuted with the Kenyan 7s team at 2006 Dubai 7s and played in the 2009 rugby world cup sevens, reaching the semifinals in the 2008-09 IRB sevens world series season.

"He was the top scorer with 42 tries. Injera won the Kenyan sportsman of the year award in 2009 and 2010. He was awarded the presidential order of golden warriors for his performance in the 2008-09 IRB World Series,” read the statement on the plaque.

The former Mwamba RFC player traveled to Fiji to personally unveil his plaque and was also expected to be one of the ambassadors at the Coral Coast 7s.

His elder sibling Humphrey Kayange is a retired professional rugby player.

The duo was part of the Kenyan squad which made history in 2016 by lifting the coveted Singapore Sevens title in April 2016.

Injera was named the man of the match in the memorable final against Fiji, scoring two tries to help Shujaa beat the former 30-17.
