Fireworks are expected to be witnessed at the 2023 National Cross Country Championship slated for Saturday, January 21 at the Prisons Training College in Ruiru.
The event is expected to be graced by star athletes, particularly after the invitation of runners from the East African region.
“The National Cross Country championship will be staged as a World Athletics Bronze.

“AK has invited athletes from Uganda, Tanzania, DRC Congo, and Refugees team to compete during the event set for Saturday,” AK stated.
Some of the teams that would be battling it out for the national crown on Saturday include Police, Prisons, National Youth Service, and the Kenya Defence Forces.
Last year’s edition was held in memory of the 2015 World Cross Country Championships gold medalist - the late Agnes Tirop.
It was staged at the Uasin Gishu County at the Eldoret-based Lobo Village.
Samuel Cheboi from the North Rift region won the men’s 10 km title, overpowering the likes of Nicholas Kimeli and Michael Kibet.
He crossed the finishing line in 29:28.9 ahead of Kennedy Kiprop and Vincent Kiprotich. Kiprop and Kiprotich clocked 29:35.2 and 30:02.6 respectively.
In the women’s category, KDF’s Joyce Chepkemoi ran away with the title after crossing the finishing line in a time of 34:00.0.
