
World Athletics and Athletics Kenya (AK) confirmed the dates for the biggest sporting events in the country this year.
According to the world governing body, the Kip Keino Classic, a Continental Gold Tour is among 14 events that are expected to take place in different parts of the globe within the next 11 months.
“The biggest World Athletics Continental Tour calendar yet has been confirmed for 2023, with one month to go until the first Gold level meeting of the season in Australia.

“Gold-level action will kick off in Melbourne, Australia, on 23 February when the Maurie Plant Meet will welcome some of the world’s top athletes to the Lakeside Stadium.
“Currently, TV rights for the 2023 Gold level meetings have been sold in 140 territories across the globe,” read part of the statement from World Athletics.
The fourth edition of the Kip Keino Classic is scheduled to be staged on Saturday, May 13 but AK is yet to confirm the venue for the event.
Multiple Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce from Jamaica and the United States duo of Fred Kerley and Isiah Young were some of the international runners who graced last year's edition.
During the 2022 World Continental Tour calendar, two records were broken.
For the first time in the history of the competition, 2396 personal bests were set by runners from diverse backgrounds. Secondly, athletes set 118 national records.
A total of 11,793 athletes from over 159 nations including Kenya, Ethiopia, and Uganda battled it out in different venues across the world.
On the other hand, AK disclosed that the eagerly awaited Sirikwa Classic Cross Country Tour Gold would take place on Saturday, February 4 at the Lobo Village in Eldoret.
